Random Presentation Order

Turn a speaker list into a usable agenda. Add durations, preserve required positions, and reduce same-group adjacency without hiding rules that cannot be satisfied.

Presentation

1 · Add presenters

Add one full presenter name per line. Then add optional agenda details without changing the name list.

4 unique presenters

2 · Configure presentation details

Topics appear in the agenda. Group labels help separate presenters, and a positive locked position reserves that slot.

Times are offsets from your meeting start.

This tool creates an order for the current session. It does not notify presenters or sync a calendar. Locked slots and group spacing remain visible for review.

What this tool does

A random presentation order generator schedules every listed speaker while combining random ordering with agenda constraints such as duration, locked slots, and preferred separation.

Speaker agendas

Where a constrained random order helps

Schedule class presentations

Randomize students while keeping a required opener, closing slot, or accommodation-related position fixed.

Build a meeting speaking order

Assign a transparent order and visible duration to prepared speakers before a facilitated session.

Prepare a showcase run list

Reduce adjacent speakers from the same team when possible and print the accepted agenda for the room.

Instructions

How to build a presentation agenda

Add speakers and durations

Enter each speaker once and add a realistic presentation length when the agenda should show times.

Lock required positions

Fix any opening, closing, accessibility, or availability-driven slots before randomizing the remaining speakers.

Add the adjacency preference

Label shared groups only when you want the generator to avoid placing their members next to one another where possible.

Review and print the agenda

Check timing and unsatisfied preferences, then copy or print the order after all speakers can attend their assigned slot.

Troubleshooting

Agenda conflicts and timing issues

Two speakers are locked to one slot

When: Multiple entries require the same fixed agenda position.

Why: A single slot cannot contain two separate presentations.

Try: Move or unlock one speaker before generating the order.

Same-group adjacency cannot be avoided

When: A group contains too many speakers relative to the other available entries.

Why: No complete ordering can separate every member of that group under the selected locked slots.

Try: Accept the reported adjacency, change locked positions, or revise the group labels.

The total duration exceeds the session

When: Speaker durations plus transitions are longer than the available time.

Why: Random order cannot create time that is not available.

Try: Shorten presentations, schedule a second session, or remove entries before publishing the agenda.

Trust

Random order, constraints, and privacy

Locked slots and separation change the possible orders

The remaining speakers are randomized within the selected agenda rules; constrained schedules are not uniform across every theoretical permutation.

  • A locked speaker is intentionally excluded from random placement for that position.
  • Adjacency avoidance is a best-effort preference and is reported when impossible.
  • The organizer remains responsible for accommodations, availability, transitions, and equitable presentation conditions.

Speaker data is not saved

Names, durations, group labels, locked slots, and the resulting agenda are used for the active task and are not saved by Random 42.

  • Random 42 does not publish a calendar, email speakers, or create a permanent schedule link.
  • Printing or copying occurs only when you activate the export action.

Boundaries

What the agenda does not coordinate

The agenda is not a calendar or event platform

The tool creates a sequence and timing estimate but does not confirm attendance, rooms, equipment, or external calendars.

Review before you use the result

  • It does not send invitations, reminders, or schedule updates.
  • Transition time, breaks, technical setup, and accessibility needs must be added by the organizer.
  • Use List Randomizer when every item only needs a plain shuffled order without timing constraints.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can I keep one speaker in a fixed position?

Yes. Lock the required slot and the tool randomizes the remaining eligible speakers around it.

Can members of the same group be separated?

The generator can prefer non-adjacent positions and reports when the roster or locked slots make complete separation impossible.

Does it calculate presentation times?

It can build an agenda from entered durations, but you must include realistic transitions and confirm the available session length.

Are speaker names uploaded?

No. Names, settings, and the agenda are used for the active task and are not saved by Random 42.
