Choose a volunteer
Pick one person from an eligible list for a demonstration, opening task, or low-stakes activity.
Paste a list, choose how many people to pick, and decide whether selected names can return. The cleaned list and every result are cleared when you leave the tool.
One name per line. Duplicate display names are kept once.
8 unique names
Each draw samples without replacement. Run again for a fresh result.
A random name picker samples one or more entries from a normalized list. Without-replacement mode removes each selected entry from the eligible pool until the list resets.
People selection
Pick one person from an eligible list for a demonstration, opening task, or low-stakes activity.
Draw a requested number of distinct people for a panel, activity, or round when repeat selections are disabled.
Use without-replacement mode to work through the current pool before anyone becomes eligible again.
Instructions
Enter one display name per line and use initials or another label when two different people share the same name.
Check which blank lines and exact duplicate labels were removed before treating the list as the eligible pool.
Choose one or more results, then decide whether a selected name remains eligible for later picks.
Run the selection, copy the displayed names if needed, and reset only when you want to restore the full pool.
Troubleshooting
When: The list is empty or every name has been selected without replacement.
Why: The picker has no active entry from which to sample.
Try: Add eligible names or reset the completed selection cycle.
When: The normalized list treats identical display names as duplicates.
Why: Keeping an identical label twice could make one apparent person receive more than one chance by accident.
Try: Use distinct labels such as Jordan A. and Jordan B., then review the cleaned list again.
When: Without-replacement mode asks for more names than remain eligible.
Why: A distinct result cannot contain more people than the current eligible pool.
Try: Reduce the pick count, restore names, or enable replacement deliberately.
Trust
The picker samples the cleaned active list; it cannot judge whether the eligibility list itself is fair or complete.
The pasted list, eligible pool, and results are used for the active task and are not saved by Random 42.
Boundaries
The tool selects from the list it receives and cannot verify consent, attendance, employment status, contest rules, or identity.
